Why Become A Member?

Mission Statement

The objective of this corporation is to assist, encourage, and enable the members to jointly and severally Participate in the recreational collecting, cutting, polishing and exhibiting of gems, minerals, fossils and lapidary arts.

Knowledge

Expand your knowledge of Rocks and Minerals. Learn about collecting sites, in Alaska and beyond. Participate in workshop use of lapidary tools. Enjoy the presentations at club meetings. We welcome the addition of your own special knowledge and expertise to our organization.

Trips

As a member of CGMS you will be able to participate in field trips both in Alaska and on occasion other locations outside Alaska. Field trips are lead or organized by CGMS members and will afford you the opportunity to add to your rock, mineral or fossil collections.

Members get together once a month on the 4th Thursday for a “Pot Luck” dinner, where you can have a bite to eat, swap stories, get updates to club activities. We have activities and programs to cap off each pot luck meeting.

Programs activities

Pot Luck meeting programs range from past trip reviews to guest speakers on rock, mineral and fossil topics. Activities may include silent auctions where you can buy samples from members collections. Bring in something you need identified, some one there will help you.
